Mardi Gras- where did it originate?

Postby Ruth » Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:05 pm

Hello All!
Thought this was interesting. I use ask.com as my search engine and they had a quiz on their home page. It said question of the day. Where did Mardi Gras originate?
For fun, I decided to just guess, and here is what i came up with!

"Question of the Day
sourceWhere did Mardi Gras originate?
A). Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, B.)Ancient Egypt, C.) Ancient Rome or D.) Paris, France?"

"C) is correct. Mardi Gras was started by Christians in Rome to integrate pagan spring festivals into the church calendar leading up to Lent.
source: history.com"

Society has been intertwining so much peganism for so long into religions!

blessings
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Isra'l;
After those days, saith יהוה,
I will put my law in their inward parts,
and
write it in their hearts;
and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Heb 8:10

What do you like about the FOY Forum or the FOY Website: I like Foy because its a online community
for Messianic peoples to fellowship
with each other
no matter what part of the world they live in.
